2nd of January: Boom! Day two with a writing prompt.

So it is the second day of the New Year. A lot of time has been spent on cleaning up and playing things on the Steam Deck (can highly recommend that by the way).

Today’s writing prompt is about handwriting. Ultimately I am prompted to write something and spin a character around that. What if that character is me?

I believe I never had the prettiest handwriting. It’s not great writing Chinese characters either. Cursive was alright and even readable when I was little. I never had the phase that some people had when they redefine their signature and writing style. I just switched back to non-cursive.

Working with software most if not all programs fail to decipher what I write and turn it into digital words. I prefer typing on a mechanical keyboard anyway (that is a hole I fell in and enjoy but will stick to my Keychron (the wife got a Nuphy for Christmas)). A nice writing tool helps my writing too. I have several Lamys that I enjoy writing with. Basically whatever you do can be made a bit more fun or enjoyable.

So this Björn character is a weird one. I am the character that can barely play a bad guy in computer games. I don’t know if you know that game “Black or White” it’s old. You play a godlike creature with a vessel character and that can be a monkey, a cow or a tiger. There are choices you can make like eating your minions or serving them. Good deeds and bad deeds and the creature changes accordingly. I wanted a badass tiger. What I ended up getting was a pink fluffy furry cat with some belly fat and a buddha like demeanour.

Some years ago in Shanghai, I was playing through “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and there you can romance people. I didn’t have a preference and it dawned on me pretty late that the dialogue options with the heart are the beats that lead you to your partner, not just the “nice” thing to say. I ended up doing some sexy time with a mage as a horned male character. The moment they ended up in bed my wife walked in and was confused about the game. I wasn’t anymore. Can’t play a bad(ass) guy if I have the choice. I would like my handwriting to be prettier and reflect that but I think fast and find the good path. Help characters out the right way. Go about things in a way that makes me feel good about my choice(s).

Do good. Write more. Be a character. Normal is boring. Be weird and be proud of it.
