1st of January 20203: Happy New Year! - Refresh your mind and soul
Happy New Year to all my friends and readers out there in the world.

The New Year is usually the time when we drag our butts to gyms or give up smoking or give up on fat or sugar or whatever is deemed most harmful. It's the one day when most people think about (important) life changes. Thing is, you can do that any day.
I managed for now the 3rd year in a row to go 2-3 times a week to the lake and dip in for a bit. Here is a video on Tiktok and my channel.
That being said, I think I should write more. My thoughtful wife gifted me a journal. The cover says “Q&A a day - for writers - 365 questions for creative exploration”. I waited to open the book. A good while. Because it starts on January 1 and that is today. It’s a journal with writing prompts, ideas and stuff for every single day.

Since I have made no resolutions whatsoever, maybe I just follow the prompts of the book and will enlighten my readers and get better at writing by putting something out every single day of the year. Why not?
So here we go. The book asks me on January 1st 2023: “Why do you write? What does it do for you?”. I could look up what I wrote years back in some posts on my blog, but I believe the reason for my writing has never really changed. I do it for myself. I do it because it helps me remember things. Think better. It gives my thinking structure. It helps me create something and even better, it forces me to put it out in the world. I am an open book and wear my heart on my sleeve and am not particularly afraid to put these creations out into the world. One can say it is almost a little bit of therapy. That I may or may not need.
I believe I also started writing a blog during my studies. I lived in Zwickau and most of my friends, if not all, always went back “home” every weekend or holiday or chance they got to flee from the small town in the east of Germany. I found myself alone a lot of these times. Even if you have friends running a DVD-Rental (that used to be a thing) you have seen every movie and played every game on Xbox 360. So writing became dealing with myself and still is today. It can also be reading, but writing does a tiny bit more for the words that run through my synapses.
Again all the best for the New Year, keep burning for something and if you want to do me a favour then try to read more. Anything really, but maybe this little blog here on substack. Have a great start and clean your room or flat or your body or maybe your mind…
